MEDIA HOMEWORK -DUE 3RD OCTOBER


Production
There are 5 main stages involved in production, they are the development, pre-production, production itself, post production and distribution. 

Development - ideas are shaped, screenplay is written. Also this is the stage where the financing is contributed.
Pre-production - where the cast and crew are chosen,set is made with a chosen location.
Production - the film itself takes place. 
Distribution - finished product released in cinemas either internationally or nationally.

The Making Of The Lovely Bones:
1. Alice Sebold wrote the best-selling novel 'The Lovely Bones.'
2. The film version of The Lovely Bones was adapted for the big screen by scriptwriters Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, directed by Peter Jackson. 
3. It stars Saorise Ronan as Susie Salmon, Stanley Tucci as her killer, Mr Harvey, Mark Wahlberg as her father Jack, Rachel Weiz as her mother Abigail and Susan Sarandon as her Grandma Lynn.
4. Most location shooting for "The Lovely Bones" was filmed in various locations in Pennsylvania. A Wellington studio was also used. 
5. The film opened to a limited release in three U.S. theaters on December 11, 2009. It received international and wide release on January 15, 2010. There were mixed reviews, but nonetheless garnered an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor (Tucci).

Distribution 

Distribution is the process of moving a product from its manufacturing source to its customers. In the film industry, it is the term meaning the distributors chosen films release time. Distributors choose one weekend rather than another because they think about when people are most like to want to go and see the film.

Marketing

Trailers, bus adverts, film posters, magazine/newspaper adverts, online adverts etc.

Exhibition

DVD/Blu-Ray, cinema, downloaded online, on demand (sky), on television, aeroplanes etc.
