Media Presentation Plan
Plan for presentation:
What we have learnt about film industry: mere
ideas from wiki:
·
We learnt that a swede is
when a comedy that parodies other genres.
· Major business centre of film
making is in United States. It is the country that mainly leads movie
production.
·
We have learnt the stages of
film production: (develop ideas about each step) 1. Development. 2.
Pre-production. 3. Production. 4. Post-production. 5. Distribution. Find on
“Filmmaking Wikipedia.”
·
We learnt about the
consummation of films and statistically, how people consume films. E.g. through
what kind of media, cinemas, videos, illegally downloading? Check statistics!
·
Which genres were most watched?
Check statistics.
·
We also learnt how to use
photoshop in terms of filmmaking. For example, editing clips so shortening,
extending etc. Including sound effects to emphasize emotion, or a certain
movement. Overall, we learnt how to use photoshop to improve our Swede.
·
We learnt the basics of a
swede. E.g. We learnt that a swede is when a comedy that parodies other genres. Look more into Spoofed films on google.
·
We learnt the basics about
camera angles and what they represent, e.g. Over the shoulder shot is usually
used in conversation so the audience is placed at the listener’s perspective.

Swede Poster
To promote our swede, I have created a poster by hand as I wanted to be more creative, rather than just use digital software. The poster will be stuck in various places such as, underground tube stations, streets, billboards etc. The release date is written on the poster to tell the viewers when they will be able to watch it. Also the poster is designed to be contrasting to capture audiences and lure them in.

Homework 1 - Film Industry
Production
- Development is the first stage in which the ideas for the film are created and the screenplay is written.
- Pre-production is the preparations that are made for the shoot, in which cast and the film crew are hired, locations are selected and sets are built.
- Production is the raw elements for the film that are recorded during the film shoot.
- Post-production is when the images, sound and visual effects of the recorded film are edited.
- Distribution is when the finished film is distributed and screened in cinemas or released on DVD.
Distribution
Films get from the edit house to the audience in a number of ways, some of ways being by screening it at cinemas across countries. Also, another way is either just bringing it out straight to DVD or Blu Ray. The distributors decide to go for a release on one weekend as opposed to another because they want to choose a weekend where they believe they’ll make the most money and make sure that no other big blockbuster movie will be the event of attention on that weekend so their film does not get overlooked by the public.
Marketing
There are various ways to promote and advertise a film that is due to be released. Some of these being trailers, bus advertisements, tube advertisements, posters of the film in popular places, if the film is targeted to children then McDonalds would advertise it with a happy meal by creating toys for the film. Films are sold to different audiences through trailers, the trailers show the key parts of the film that they think will grab the audience’s attention and make them think about watching the film. Another way is also the bus and tube advertisements and the posters, on them they have slogans from the film and they also have the critic reviews if the reviews are good which may want someone to watch it because it has got good reviews from the critics.
Exhibition
There are many ways the audience can watch a film now. The audience can go to the cinema or buy the film on Blu-Ray or DVD; the audience can also stream film online through Netflix or LoveFilm. Some methods of watching a film are illegal but are still very popular and used a lot. This includes buying a pirate DVD or downloading the film illegally online.

Homework
There are many steps that involve the production of a film. The making of Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was a film that was adapted by the world wide selling series by Cassandra Clare. By having an idea of a plot for the movie, the next steps which followed were having to gather the cast, write scripts, find a suitable location for the shooting and editing and then the premiere and world wide screening of the film.
Pre-Production
Planning a great movie such as the City of Bones, the film director and producer Harald Zwart needed to pick out the key scenes from the book which are most relevant to the making of the movie. During the pre production things such as finding out the location and permission for shooting times, organising and creating the props and special effect all had to come into consideration as it is a fantasy and speculative fiction series of books made in to a motion picture film. After all the hassle of the location and designing of props and sets, the cast are then given scripts for their specific roles.
Production
The production of the film occurs when all of the costumes, props, sets and location are put into use, and the movie is ready to be shot. In order for the movie to be productive and well made the director has to make sure that they take each scene as many times as possible. This is because, they try to create different illusions and for the viewers to experience different sets of emotion just by the way the scene was taken.
Post Production
Post production involves the editing process of the films, where the director and editor pick out how the movie is edited and what type of music fits in which scenes. Choosing scenes and organising them in a chronological order all adds to the effects of a continous and well structured plot of a movie. Adding effects and features such as 3D are all included. The most difficult part of the editor is that they have to continously edit the different jump and match cuts.
Distribution
The distribution of the movie involves on what day it is released. A particular day of the week is chosen such as 21st August the release date of Mortal Instruments: City of Bones because, there is a wider audience on a wednesday and during the rest of the week the movie can make quite a lot of money in the box office. I suppose, choosing the week of 21st opposing to 28th is because, a lot of the younger audience are not starting their new year in school therefore, the ratings and views will be higher than ever.
Standard Release
A standard release involves the film being premiered in the movie theaters and later, followed by being released on DVD and Blu-Ray months after it's release in the cinema. Possibly, a year and a half later, the film is more likely to be released for free on Sky Premiere and later on free on ordinary free view channels.
Simultaneous Release
This involves the movie being released on different media formats at the same time.
Video Release
Some movies, are released straight on to DVD and/or Blu-Ray without it actually being screened in theaters.
Internet Release
Small budget and/or individual films are mainly released on the internet websites without it being screened in theaters. This is very common in the YouTube industry.
Marketing
Marketing all depends on a target audience. For example if a movie such as The Hunger Games which is targeted for a Young Adults audience may be advertised on TV or through social networks showing up as a green or red band trailer. Advertising of movies is mainly on:
